About Me

I'm Jemima, an artist and mum living in Hoedspruit. I spent many years living in Botswana as a child, and, though I’m originally from the UK, I came back to the bush as a teenager and never really left - thanks to a persistent (irresistible) game ranger (I know, what a cliche!) These days, I live with my now-husband and daughter Scout, plus our two mad Australian cattle-dogs. Here, art has become my way of telling stories about the wild places we have been lucky to call home.

I started painting while working in the Okavango Delta, drawn to watercolour because it’s unpredictable and full of energy - just like the animals and birds I paint. My work is bright, a bit quirky, and always about representing both character and movement.

Over time, my work has grown beyond original paintings into a small collection of illustrated keepsakes. Some pieces are inspired by wildlife and wild places, some by letters and names, and others are created especially to honour much-loved pets. While the subjects may differ, the intention is always the same: to turn everyday objects into something personal, story-filled, and worth holding onto.

I love the idea that art doesn’t have to live only on a wall. A mug can become a memory. A cap can carry a name or a story. An original painting can hold a moment in time. Whether it’s an alphabet design chosen for a child, a wildlife illustration that echoes a place you love, or a custom pet portrait that captures personality and connection, each piece is made to feel like a small keepsake.
